The project was approved by the NSW Minister for Planning under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (the EP&A Act) in March 2025 and by the Commonwealth Department of Energy Efficiency, Climate Change and Water under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Act 1999 (EPBC Act) in August 2025.
Major Projects website - Muswellbrook Solar Farm & Battery is a NSW State Significant Project. All documentation relating to the application and assessment process can be found on the DPHI Major Projects portal including the Development Consent.
Independent Planning Commission (IPC) - The project was referred to the IPC and was approved in May 2025, subject to conditions. The Statement of Reasons for Decision can be found here. To view all documents related to the IPC process visit the Commission’s website.
Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Act 1999 (EPBC Act) - The project was approved by DCCEEW in August 2025.
