The project will be constructed using a staged approach.
The first stage will involve works within the southern section of the project area only (Muswellbrook Solar Farm South), with all construction access from Muscle Creek Road.
No construction works will occur in the northern section of the site (Muswellbrook Solar Farm North), and the access point on Sandy Creek Road will not be used until a later stage, after the Southern section has been completed. All access to the site will be via Muscle Creek Road, and activities will occur during normal working hours.

Construction began in May 2026 with activities such as:
From 7th September 2026, the civil works subcontractor will begin mobilising personnel, site offices and plant to the project site. Civil construction works will commence shortly after mobilisation is complete.
Works will take place across the project site, commencing in the site compound and substation hardstand areas. Activities will involve the use of excavators, water carts, dozers and graders. As a result, the works may generate some construction noise and dust from time to time.
To help minimise potential impacts on the surrounding community, dust suppression measures will be implemented as required, and all works will be undertaken within the approved construction hours.
